Deep Dive

So a few days ago I posted some new patterns I worked on recently. I wanted to focus on one of them to share some of the sketches. I've talked before about how I get a little obsessed with various shapes so that's pretty much the case here.
So the pattern above is digitally done, but I kept playing with the shape and decided to do a hand-drawn version. The size is 14"x11" and I used my favorite Sharpie pens.
Here's a close up. Ooo, Sharpie pen.
And here's a sketch that I did as I was playing around with the idea.
You can tell that I'm learning calligraphy because I've been practicing all over the place. And here's the pencil sketches when I was first trying to figure out the right shape.
The end!

And THAT's my new Philosophy

Work in the corporate world can be hard some times. (Hi co-workers, am I shocking anyone here? No? Ok good, read on.) But this week I thought a lot about how staying positive and enthusiastic, even when times are crummy, makes everyone feel better. And that's my new philosophy! Don't get the reference? Not a closet Broadway nerd? Check it out here and I guarantee you won't be able to stop humming.

Out of Context, Pt. 3

I know I said part three was going to be weird things my mom says, because she does say weird things, I just have apparently not been writing them down recently.

Instead, to be perfectly fair in this series of ridiculous things people say, here are some things I that I have said recently, illustrated and taken completely out of context.
Kevin would like me to note that he enjoys beets so this popsicle would not result in extreme dissapointment.
Names removed to protect the innocent.
All old ladies come complete with a walker, an over-sized, deformed cat and huge dark sunglasses. It's really gross. Trust me.
BONUS: I didn't say this, but I plan to include questions like this in my everyday conversation from now on. Like, does a peanut KNOW about peanut butter? Think about it. I could do this all day.

Sharpie Pen Love

As previously mentioned, Kevin was nice enough to give me some new Sharpies for Christmas. One pack was of these colored Sharpie pens. Sharpie pens are like the chocolate-covered-pretzel-marshmallow-chocolate of pens. That's how much I love them. A lot.

They are great for doodling during staff meetings... :o) But they aren't as expensive as the Micron pens I usually use for drawing and have pretty similar results. Here's what I drew last night:
