Webbed Feet & Pumpkins

As I mentioned yesterday, we decided to take this lovely weekend to go pick some pumpkins. Kevin and I are pretty particular about our pumpkins so he covered a lot of ground before picking his. I spent more time playing with Instagram and taking some pretty photos.

Which reminded me of this picture of seagull tracks I took at the beach a few weeks ago. The shape of the tracks and the texture of the sand was really inspiring. Most of my patterns recently have started with a particular shape so this was a good jumping off point for me.

I kept running with the same color theme from yesterday. 

So between the successful pumpkin patch picking and some fun graphic prints, it was a pretty great weekend. How was yours?

Hey Internet. It's been a busy week for the beginning of October. Today we went pumpkin picking (more to come on that tomorrow) and I spent the afternoon baking an apple pie while watching the poor poor Florida Gators play LSU.

But in between all that, I managed to work out a new pattern that I really like. I wasn't sure (as usual) how it was going to come out because it was a little extra complicated. To get all the little links in each area all linked up I had to keep messing around with it.

The result was well worth the effort though. I love that the more I practice this the more I love each pattern. I think I'm definitely improving which is a huge confidence builder.

End of Summer

I don't like to admit that summer is really really over. This weekend will usher in October and I can't even pretend that's summer like I can September. We spent this past weekend with our lovely friends at the Dogfish Dash in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware.

During the weekend when we weren't running or sampling the fine craft brews, we spent our time meandering up and down the boardwalk and kicking sand around on the beach. The weather was sort of foggy and chilly, but it was still really relaxing and beautiful.

On our last morning we took a walk on the sand to chase birds, survey GIANT dead horseshoe crabs (no joke, one was as large as a dinner plate), and say goodbye to summer.

Thanks for the excellent weekend Team :o) Now I'm working on catching up with the Declaration of You, my grad school project and some bird footprint-inspired doodles for later this week. 

Leaf It to Me

Sorry, I'm all about the corny-ness today. It's been quite a day though. It started with an effing HUGE spider on my side mirror on my way to my client meeting. It was huge. I was afraid for my life... really. Here's a pattern that's very relaxing and not scary like spiders at all.

This was a bonus design as I was working on my top secret block print I mentioned yesterday. Clearly one of the design elements is a leaf and it's kind of that color green (but I photoshopped this color). I'm really digging these block prints turned patterns. The texture is just so fun. I know I always ask, but thoughts? Love it, hate it?

Happy September!

I'm trying to be happy that it's September, but really, I'm devastated. Summer is my favorite season by far because there's no way you can confuse it with my least favorite season... Winter. I'm a Florida girl at heart and I need my 100 degrees and 99 percent humidity days!

So along those lines I made this orang-ey fall-ish print to get pumped up. The inspiration actually came from this photo I found on  Design*Sponge.

Another reason I'm getting pumped up is that later this month I'm starting "The Declaration of You" with Michelle Ward and Jessica Swift. Wooo! I'm really excited about it because I'm hoping it will help me sort out some of this stuff I've been thinking about for a whiiilllee.

I've been trying to figure out what to do about sharing/selling my doodles and artwork and the level of committment I want to put into it. It's complicated and I have full confidence these wonderful ladies will help guide me through so of my questions. Stay tuned for updates!
